The Bernstein Museum, officially known as the Felsenmuseum Bernstein, is a family-friendly museum and former mine located in Bernstein, Austria. Spanning over 1,000 square meters, the facility offers five distinct exhibitions that explore the region's geological and cultural heritage.
Visitors can explore the "Mine & Minerals" section, which showcases rare gemstones from Austrian mountains and provides historical context on local mining practices. The "Edelserpentin Collection" displays unique serpentine artifacts crafted by local workshops, including a gold-awarded mosaic vase from the 1958 World’s Fair. The museum also honors the legacy of its founder, artist Otto Potsch, with a dedicated area featuring his sculptures.
A significant highlight is the "Fossil Gold (Amber)" exhibition, which explains the formation, trade, and history of amber. Additionally, the "Crystals" exhibit highlights the unique structure, form, and color of various crystals and gemstones.
