Lower Austria

Lower Austria, or Niederösterreich, is the largest federal state in Austria, covering an area of approximately 19,186 square kilometers. Located in the northeastern part of the country, it surrounds the capital city of Vienna, which is a separate federal state. The best time to visit Lower Austria is from May to October for outdoor activities and wine tourism, with June and September offering ideal weather conditions. July and August are peak months for tourism, particularly in the Wachau Valley. Winter is suitable for skiing and enjoying the festive atmosphere in the towns, although some outdoor activities may be limited by snow and cold weather.
